Govt focused on expanding tax base, boosting economic growth: Kayani
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani on Thursday stated that the government was implementing measures to expand the tax base and enhance the country’s economic growth rate.
While speaking to a private television channel, he revealed that reforms were being introduced in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and energy sectors to align with the government’s economic goals. He asserted that the economy had stabilized due to the government’s actions, shifting the focus to accelerating growth and strengthening the economic sector.
Regarding petroleum products, Kayani noted that the government had provided targeted subsidies despite regional challenges. He added that measures had been taken to ensure the availability of essential commodities across the nation and offer relief to the salaried class.
In response to a question, the minister confirmed that the government had secured the supply of petroleum products nationwide.
