Govt Playing Role In Protecting Women’s Rights Through Balochistan Harassment Act 2016: Saira Atta
Commissioner Lasbela Division Saira Atta stated on Thursday that under Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti's vision, the government is actively protecting women's rights through the Balochistan Harassment Act 2016. She assured students that they could continue their educational journey without fear or danger, emphasizing that any government official found guilty of harassment would face dismissal from their position.
Atta made these remarks while addressing a seminar on career counseling at Lasbela University. She highlighted the practical steps taken to empower women and safeguard them through the legal framework established by the act, ensuring they are granted their rightful inheritance in various sectors.
The Commissioner urged students to maintain open communication with teachers for a safer learning environment. She encouraged female students not only to pursue careers in medicine and teaching but also in administration and other fields. In her message, Atta instilled confidence in candidates, reminding them that job applications should never deter them, and success would follow their efforts.
She informed the students about the province's progress in educational development, from backward areas to Awaran, attributing it to the Women Empowerment Policy. Atta mentioned the successful implementation of women's business markets across Balochistan and the establishment of six women business centers in diverse regions. She emphasized the government's support through loan facilities for various businesses, enabling 409 women to start their own enterprises.
Atta further highlighted the significance of the recent appointment of four administrative officers in Lasbela Division as a step towards enhancing service delivery. She celebrated the achievements of women across different spheres and called for collective efforts to improve the division, province, and country. In response to student queries, Atta emphasized that becoming a public servant alone cannot bring societal change; instead, it's the collective responsibility of every citizen to contribute to positive transformations.
She also touched upon the issue of drug addiction among women in Hub district, expressing it as a moment for reflection and emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to combat this challenge.
