Pakistan Peoples Party central leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has termed the current system as hybrid and illegitimate, stating that Pakistan operates under a hybrid system rather than democracy, a scenario unacceptable according to the Constitution.
Speaking on Hum news program, he highlighted General Faiz's involvement in managing affairs during both Imran Khan's tenure and the Pakistan Peoples Party's term, though the latter at least held institutions accountable to Parliament.
Kaira accused the government of attempting to prevent PTI from assuming a protest position, leading to disappointment among its workers and voters. He believed PTI's strategic goal was to incite public demonstrations, potentially resulting in deaths, which would build momentum for their movement, increase pressure on the government and courts, and pave the way for Imran Khan's release.
He advised the government to reconcile with the opposition and emphasized the risks of large gatherings during protests, noting they could become easy targets for terrorists. Kaira urged an end to force against PTI, arguing that raiding homes and vandalizing them widens the divide between the public and state. He insisted these actions push people into a "sea of despair."
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan declared their long march would reach Islamabad in October or November and they wouldn't return until their demands were met. On a private television program, he stated:
- Their long march will reach Islamabad by October or November, taking three to four days to arrive in the capital. The duration could extend into November.
- They've arranged over 2 million participants, challenging the government to manage such a large gathering.
- 3000 containers are already in Islamabad, and they plan to completely shut down the city upon arrival.
- They won't return until their demands are accepted.
