Hamza Shahbaz Visits DCD, Reviews Digital Communication Initiatives

ISLAMABAD: (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President and former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif visited the Digital Communication Department (DCD) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today and reviewed its ongoing digital communication initiatives.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Federal Secretary Information Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil and senior officials of the ministry received Hamza Shahbaz upon his arrival.
During the visit, Attaullah Tarar provided a detailed overview of DCD’s various sections, its scope of work, and functions, including its use of digital technology and social media platforms for public communication.
Hamza Shahbaz expressed keen interest in the DCD’s activities and commended the Ministry of Information’s efforts to strengthen digital communication. He emphasized the significance of digital media as a powerful tool for delivering timely information to the public and effectively highlighting government initiatives. He further stated that the strategic use of digital platforms can contribute to shaping Pakistan’s positive image and national narrative globally.
Attaullah Tarar highlighted the role of digital media as an effective means of disseminating information and maintaining communication with the public in the contemporary era. He underscored the DCD’s responsibility in countering negative propaganda and fabricated news against Pakistan. He stressed the need to highlight the government’s initiatives and national narrative on digital platforms in line with modern communication demands. He noted that the DCD and ptv Digital are playing a crucial role in achieving these objectives.
The meeting also delved into discussions on strengthening public outreach and effective communication through digital technology, social media, and other platforms.
Participants explored ways to further expand the digital reach of content through ptv Digital.
Hamza Shahbaz was briefed on various initiatives underway in the digital communication sector, as well as the utilization of modern technologies for enhanced public outreach.
Federal Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Minister of State Abdul Rehman Kanju, Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badar Shahbaz Waraich, and Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Talha Burki were also present.
