Healthcare Establishments Must Fully Comply With Safety Regulations And Emergency Preparedness: SHCC

KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 27, 2026) The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has directed healthcare establishments across the province to ensure strict compliance with prescribed fire safety, emergency preparedness and disaster management standards, warning that surprise inspections will now be conducted to assess actual compliance.

According to a press release issued by the commission, previous inspections and monitoring visits had identified shortcomings in the implementation of safety measures despite repeated directives to healthcare establishments.

The SHCC stated its teams would conduct unannounced inspection and monitoring visits across Sindh to determine whether required safety arrangements were functional in practice rather than merely documented.

Healthcare establishments have been directed to immediately review their fire safety and emergency preparedness arrangements, conduct self-audits, organize mock drills, update records, and rectify identified deficiencies in accordance with the Sindh Service Delivery Standards.

The commission emphasized that staff must be properly trained in emergency and evacuation procedures and noted that the safety of patients, staff, and visitors is a fundamental responsibility of every healthcare establishment.

It warned that violations of prescribed safety standards would be dealt with under the applicable regulatory framework.
