Houthis Drone Attack on Makkah

A drone attempting to enter Makkah’s airspace was destroyed, according to the Saudi-led coalition military spokesman.
RIYADH (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Saudi Arabia’s Saudi-led international military coalition has announced that its air defense systems successfully shot down an explosive drone launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels while trying to enter the sacred airspace over Makkah.
The incident was described as a serious development by the Houthis, according to Arab media.
In a statement, the Saudi-led coalition stated:
The protection and sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques and all sacred sites constitute an inviolable red line for Saudi Arabia and allied forces, and that no compromise would be made on this matter.
They added that this was the second failed attempt by the Houthis to target Makkah, and promised to take "all necessary military and defensive measures" against them. The statement emphasized that the attack aimed to spread fear among the millions of Muslim pilgrims visiting Makkah, revealing the extremist agenda of the Houthi militia while reassuring that Saudi air defenses and armed forces remained vigilant.
