Yemen’s Ruling Houthi Group Takes Over Red Sea Coastline

Yemen’s internationally recognized government has confirmed that the ruling Houthi group, Ansar Allah, has seized control of the country’s entire Red Sea coastline. An unidentified military official from Yemen’s exiled government shared this information with AFP.
According to the official, the Houthis have also captured two more islands in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This claim followed reports that the Houthis had taken over Perim Island, a strategically crucial location for global shipping.
Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya reported that the Houthis had ousted forces loyal to the exiled government from areas south and west of Taiz province. Two sources within Yemen’s exiled government confirmed that Houthi troops reached Dhu Bab, a city situated on the Bab al-Mandab Strait opposite Mayyun Island.
Another government source told AFP that the militia had deployed troops on Mayyun Island, a strategically vital island located in the middle of the strait.
Simultaneously, reports of Houthi atrocities against civilians in Taiz province and Al Hudaydah province have intensified due to the ongoing fighting, resulting in widespread displacement.
Independent sources revealed that the entire Red Sea coastline is now under Houthi control.
