How a community living under demolition orders from Israel view UK sanctions
The UK’s sanctions on illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank have sparked a series of Israeli counter-measures against UK nationals and organizations. The sanctions followed Israel’s opening of tenders for settlement home construction in the strategically vital so-called E1 area east of Jerusalem, a move that has garnered widespread international condemnation. This development would effectively partition the West Bank in two and isolate East Jerusalem.
The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent, Lucy Williamson, visited the Palestinian community of Khan al Ahmar in the E1 area, as well as the neighboring Israeli settlement of Maale Admumim.
