Huge crowds watch attempt to rescue shark stranded in South Korean canal

Close

Huge crowds have flocked to a canal in South Korea to watch a stranded shark.

The 9ft 10in (3m) shark, nicknamed Bukangi, was first spotted in the waterway last month in the south-eastern city of Busan. Now a third attempt has been made to rescue the female using nets to guide her back to the open sea.

It is thought the shark may have been drawn to the canal by unusually warm water and plenty of fish. The BBC's Seoul correspondent Jake Kwon goes to Busan to follow the latest attempt to rescue Bukangi.

Video edited by Marina Costa, filmed by Hosu Lee.
