Sir Tom Jones: ‘I Was Fired From The Voice’
BBC Wales reports that Sir Tom Jones, the 86-year-old Welsh singer, has revealed he was "fired" from ITV’s The Voice. According to Jones, the broadcaster decided against renewing his contract, citing "financial difficulty with insurance" as the reason.
“They now say in the press they wanted to ‘refresh’ the show, and with a new coaching line-up there wouldn’t be a chair for me.”
Jones expressed his displeasure with the situation: "The only thing I know right now, is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job."
Despite reports of potential negotiations for a reduced role, Jones remains uncertain about his future on the show. A source close to The Voice has expressed hope that he will return, however.
Throughout his tenure on The Voice UK, Jones has coached many successful contestants, including Leanne Mitchell, Ruti Olajugbagbe, and Anthonia Edwards, who have all gone on to win the competition.
