Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi states his unwavering stance against relinquishing his ideology, even in the face of threats from Governor’s Rule or a federal emergency.
In response to imminent federal interventions, Afridi emphasizes his determination not to yield, expressing readiness to sacrifice power for what he believes in and for the province's rights.
Addressing a crucial meeting on law and order in Peshawar, Sohail Afridi accuses the federal government of fabricating narratives to mask ineffective anti-terrorism policies. He highlights a collective call from political, social, and provincial stakeholders urging a policy change but argues that instead, blame is placed on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a defiant tone, the chief minister remarks: "I will not back down from my position out of fear of threats... I curse such an office [that forces me to abandon] my principled stance on my ideology, the security of the people, and provincial autonomy." He acknowledges the profound sacrifices made by the people, police, and security forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for peace, emphasizing that these efforts have been squandered due to flawed federal decisions.
Afridi further criticizes the federal government's dismissal of his warnings about terrorist threats and resettlement. He maintains that he consistently urged them to change their security policy but was ignored, leading to a resurgence of terrorism in the province.
