Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Weighs In on Political Turmoil
Huzaifa Rehman, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant, has offered a witty perspective on Pakistan’s current political landscape, including relations with the coalition partner, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and potential PTI protests.
"Every moment in politics does not remain the same," Rehman noted*. "Sometimes we are Sikandar, sometimes Qalandar, and sometimes inside." Referring to the ongoing provincial issue, he explained:
If the provincial issue remains unchanged, we will consider ourselves Sikandar; if it changes, we’ll be Qalandar. And if circumstances worsen excessively, well, we will all be inside!
He emphasized that while PPP is upset, it’s their coalition partner’s right to express dissatisfaction and it’s the government’s role to keep open lines of communication.
Regarding PTI’s anticipated protest and long march on September 27th, Rehman expressed confidence that the party would call it off before it even started.
