IHC Reserves Order On Woman’s Bail In Assault Case

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday reserved its verdict on a post-arrest bail petition filed by a woman accused of allegedly assaulting her husband and two minor daughters.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro reserved the judgment after hearing arguments from both sides in the case involving petitioner Amina Saeed.

During the hearing, the defense counsel argued that the case stemmed from a domestic dispute and told the court that the woman had allegedly assaulted her husband on three separate occasions, leaving visible injury marks on his body.

The judge remarked that the case involved allegations that a woman had assaulted a member of a law enforcement force and questioned whether the accused had any specialized training. The defense counsel argued that even if the woman had acted in anger, the matter should be viewed in the context of a family dispute.

During the proceedings, the court was informed that an iron rod had allegedly been recovered from the accused. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the woman held a PhD in philosophy and said there were several family-related issues that the defense did not wish to discuss in open court.

Justice Soomro also asked the investigating officer whether the woman’s mental health had been examined at the time of her arrest. The investigating officer replied that no such assessment had been conducted.

The prosecution maintained that the accused had also subjected her two minor daughters to physical abuse.

After hearing detailed arguments from both parties, the court reserved its verdict on the bail petition.
