IHC Summons Provincial Chief Secretaries, IGs Over PTI Sept 27 Protest Call
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned the chief secretaries and inspectors general of police (IGPs) of all four provinces in person on Thursday in a petition challenging the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) September 27 protest and long march.
The court also directed the Chief Commissioner, Inspector General of Police, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad to appear in person.
Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar issued a three-page written order after hearing the petition against the proposed PTI protest and long march. The court also constituted a larger bench to hear the matter. The bench comprises Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and Justice Muhammad Asif.
According to the written order, the petition was filed by a businessman concerning the proposed protest. The petitioner’s counsel apprised the court of losses and damage allegedly caused by previous protests.
The court was also informed that laws were in place governing protests in Islamabad. Observing the significance of the issue, the court issued notice to the Attorney General for Pakistan to assist it in the proceedings.
The court directed the chief secretaries and IGPs of all four provinces to appear in person on Thursday, along with the Chief Commissioner, IGP, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.
