CHANDIGARH (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22th Aug, 2026) – The State Transport Authority (STA) has suspended the aggregator licence of Indsystems IT Private Limited, which operates the ride-hailing platform inDrive, for six months with immediate effect over alleged violations of regulatory requirements and non-compliance with the Chandigarh Administration Motor Vehicles Aggregators Rules, 2025.

This suspension prohibits inDrive from operating its cab and bike-taxi services in Chandigarh during the specified period.

According to the STA, the decision followed repeated notices and directions issued to the company regarding compliance with applicable aggregator rules. Authorities cited several lapses, including:

  • Failure to implement mandatory driver-welfare measures
  • Non-submission of required compliance reports
  • Inadequate response to communications from the Transport Department

The regulator also highlighted issues related to prescribed fare structures, operational requirements, and irregularities found during inspections.

Under the order, drivers and vehicle owners associated with the inDrive platform are directed to immediately cease operations in Chandigarh and not accept bookings through the application during the suspension period.

The transport authorities have warned that violations of the suspension order may result in strict enforcement action, including challans and vehicle impounding.

The STA has also advised commuters not to book rides through the inDrive application during the suspension period and to use other aggregator platforms authorized by the Chandigarh Transport Department.

This action against inDrive follows a similar six-month suspension imposed on ANI Technologies Private Limited, the operator of Ola, over alleged non-compliance with the city’s aggregator regulations.

The Chandigarh Administration’s move comes as Indian authorities continue to tighten regulatory oversight of app-based mobility platforms, focusing on areas like driver welfare, licensing, fares, safety, reporting, and operational compliance.
