Indonesia's Mount Anak Krakatau Erupts, Causing Travel and Activity Disruptions

An eruption of Indonesia's Mount Anak Krakatau led to significant disruptions over the weekend. Six airports suspended flights, affecting hundreds of operations at Jakarta's main airport. Schools and fishing activities were also halted.
Ash from the volcano reached heights of up to 6,000 meters on the Java side and 15,000 meters on the Sumatra side, as reported by the meteorological agency BMKG. The disaster mitigation agency, BNPB, advised the public to remain calm and take precautions, including wearing masks, reducing outdoor activities, and protecting water sources.
