The Education Department has initiated actions against 2,200 Punjab government schools with academic performance below 20 percent in ninth-grade examinations.
Inquiry and Accountability
Principal and school head officials recording results below 20 percent have been given a three-day deadline to submit explanations. District education officers have launched inquiries into these schools.
Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized that instead of lengthy inquiries, direct action will be taken based on low student results. He added that teachers consistently delivering poor results for three to five years have no right to remain in their positions.
Awards for High-Performing Teachers
Meanwhile, the provincial education minister announced that better-performing teachers will be awarded to encourage them. The goal is to enhance teaching standards and improve students’ academic outcomes in government schools.
