Intelligence-based Operation Exposes Terror-smuggling Network: Talal Chaudhry
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday shared details of an intelligence-based operation, saying it exposed an alleged network involved in terrorism, weapons supply, narcotics trafficking and smuggling.
He stated that security agencies conduct approximately 200 intelligence-based operations daily, and presented audio, video, and other evidence from one operation to elucidate the functioning of such networks and their support for terrorist activities.
Addressing a Press Conference:
Talal Chaudhry addressed queries regarding intelligence agencies and Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts. While many operations remain confidential, the government decided to share details of this case due to the extensive evidence gathered during the investigation.
He revealed that individuals operating from Afghanistan were involved in supporting terrorism within Pakistan. The operation uncovered a terror-crime network linked to:
- Weapons trafficking
- Vehicle smuggling
- Illegal petroleum trade
- Narcotics trafficking
- Other unlawful activities
These activities, according to Chaudhry, provide financial and logistical support to terrorist operations.
Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC):
Chaudhry also discussed the recent proscription of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, addressing doubts regarding the decision. He affirmed that it was based on evidence gathered by security agencies and that investigations were ongoing.
He noted that some audio recordings related to the case had circulated on social media, prompting questions about their authenticity. However, he assured that the evidence collected during the investigation corroborated the findings of security agencies.
Initiating the Investigation:
The investigation commenced with the arrest of Zia, a resident of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, accused of supplying weapons to various individuals over the past eight to ten years, including those associated with JAAC for the last two years.
Chaudhry explained that Zia's arrest followed a firing incident involving security agencies at Kashmir Mor. A subsequent examination of his mobile phone revealed contact and communication records that led to further developments in the case.
Investigators established links between Zia and Majid, described as a close associate of Sardar Aman, a prominent figure within JAAC. Audio recordings allegedly recovered during the investigation contained conversations about sniper rifles, ammunition, quantities, prices, supply arrangements, and deliveries.
