IPC, PSB, FBBA Join Hands To Promote School Basketball
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 09, 2026) The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Federal Basketball Association (FBBA) have joined forces to promote basketball at the grassroots and school levels through a specialized training program for female sports teachers in schools under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
The training course was organized at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, in collaboration with the FBBA, aiming to enhance the professional capabilities of school sports teachers and encourage basketball among students. More than 62 female sports teachers participated, gaining comprehensive knowledge of basketball fundamentals, rules, modern coaching techniques, training drills, and practical methods for introducing and developing the sport within their schools.
Practical demonstrations were conducted to refine the participants’ coaching and training skills. The program was led by Umer Mahmood, a former international basketball player and member of the Coaches Board of the Pakistan Basketball Federation.
The initiative was supervised by Mumtaz ul Haq, Deputy Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, aligning with the vision and directives of Mohyuddin Wani, Secretary of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination. Yawar Hussain, Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board, also played a pivotal role.
Ejaz Butt, President of the Federal Basketball Association, and Ouj E Zahoor, Secretary General, offered their full support and cooperation for the successful execution of the training program.
This endeavor aims to establish a stronger foundation for school-level basketball by equipping female sports teachers with modern coaching techniques and creating more opportunities for students to engage in the sport. It will also facilitate the early identification, grooming, and development of promising young basketball players.
The FBBA has consistently contributed to the promotion and growth of basketball in the Federal Capital Region through training camps, coaching programs, and local/national competitions.
