An Iranian commercial vessel met with an accident near the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, resulting in one death and three injuries. According to Iranian state television, the ship became stranded near Qeshm Island, located in the Persian Gulf and a significant geographical position close to the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a vessel passing through the Strait had been struck by a projectile, without providing additional details about the incident. It remains unclear if this was the same Iranian commercial vessel or two separate incidents.
The US military has not issued an immediate statement regarding the event. Previously, the US military has targeted Iranian-flagged vessels and reports suggest a blockade of Iranian ports continues. On Saturday, the US military stated that its forces had diverted approximately 100 commercial vessels over the past 60 days.
