Jamaat-e-Islami Talks Petroleum Levy With Government; Three More Days Sought

The government delegation asked Jamaat-e-Islami to not call for a protest march towards Islamabad for another three days, but no progress was made in talks at Punjab House.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Sep, 2026) Talks between Jamaat-e-Islami and the government on the petroleum levy are continuing, with the government requesting an extension of three more days.
Sources indicate that the government delegation urged Jamaat-e-Islami not to organize a march towards Islamabad for another three days. A Jamaat-e-Islami delegation, headed by Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch, visited Punjab House for discussions with the government team. The government delegation comprised Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and included Rana Sanaullah, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, and Bilal Azhar Kayani.
On September 7, a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation, again led by Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch, submitted proposals and recommendations regarding petroleum product prices to the government.
