Joint Declaration on Occasion of State Visit of President of United Arab Emirates to Federal Republic of Germany

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 10th Sep, 2026) At the invitation of the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, visited Germany from September 9 to 11, 2026. This marked the first State Visit from a President of the United Arab Emirates to Germany.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also met with His Excellency Friedrich Merz, Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The leaders acknowledged that this State Visit takes place at a crucial moment for both countries and the international order as a whole. Amid regional and geopolitical volatility, they emphasized the importance of reliable partnerships and their commitment to stand together in defense of the global order.
The visit reaffirmed the German-UAE partnership, driven by shared commitments to peace, security, economic prosperity, future technologies, and sustainable development. During the State Visit, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced the establishment of a Strategic Dialogue format aimed at revitalizing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2004.
This strategic dialogue will oversee progress on enhanced cooperation across various sectors:
- International and regional security and defense
- Trade and investment
- Energy and climate
- Emerging technologies and digitalization
- Economy, transportation, and environment
- Culture and education
Both sides expressed their commitment to deepening bilateral trade and investment ties. Concretely, they welcomed the signing of a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) on establishing the German-UAE Investment Council to foster investments and strengthen public and private sector engagement. They also noted the positive outcomes of the UAE-Germany Business Forum and the resumption of the Joint Economic Committee, emphasizing their support for closer economic cooperation, investments, and joint projects.
In particular, both leaders welcomed the signing of 29 business agreements.
