Joint Departmental Efforts Planned to Promote Women’s Rights and Protection in DIKhan
Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 23, 2026) An important coordination meeting was held under the auspices of the District Committee on the Status of Women (DCSW), Dera Ismail Khan, with the participation of focal persons from various government departments, including the Population Welfare Department, Police, Education Department, and Local Government.
The meeting was chaired by Humaira Nawaz, Chairperson DCSW, DIKhan. The focus was on strengthening mutual cooperation and effective coordination among the concerned departments to take joint measures for timely resolving public issues, particularly those faced by women and girls.
Humaira Nawaz highlighted the role and mandate of the DCSW and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to promote and protect women’s rights at the district level. She stated that effective coordination among departments could improve access to information, legal protection, health facilities, and available support services for women and girls.
She also stressed the importance of:
- Organizing awareness activities at educational institutions and community level about legal rights and institutional support mechanisms.
- Involving mental health professionals in awareness sessions regarding anxiety, depression, and stress among women and girls.
- Educating women and students about police procedures, including registration of First Information Reports (FIRs), complaint mechanisms, and assistance available through the Police Department.
- Promoting awareness about the Bolo Helpline and its purpose, services, and access procedure.
- Raising awareness about the Nikah Nama, its implications, and women’s rights before and at the time of marriage.
The participants agreed to further discuss and implement these initiatives.
