"I will send both you and the SP to jail for six months; you should be ashamed," remarked Judge Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Oct, 2026) The Anti-Terrorism Court expressed displeasure with police officials for failing to produce the record in the bail case of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha, ordering handcuffs to be brought.
The bail applications of Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were heard by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain. The judge became angry over the investigating officer’s absence and summoned the DSP in person.
Defence lawyer Riyasat Ali stated his readiness to present arguments, prompting the judge to inquire about the investigating officer's whereabouts. A court official reported that the officer was out of the city.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain expressed anger, saying: "Where is he out of the city? Call the DSP. Verbal statements will not be accepted." He also summoned the security in-charge and ordered handcuffs to be brought.
When the DSP appeared, the judge questioned him about the missing record, asking him to speak in Urdu. The DSP explained that, according to his information, the investigating officer was out of town.
The judge, not satisfied with this answer, insisted on seeing the evidence: "Bring something on the record. I will send both you and the SP to jail for six months. You people should be ashamed; you have turned this into bullying." He further added: "I will make you stand in the dock facing away. Show me the evidence. I will send you to jail for six months right now, even in uniform. Then the blame comes upon the courts; this has become a drama."
The DSP mentioned that the investigating officer had gone to Gilgit-Baltistan and submitted a printed copy of a WhatsApp message to the court. The judge, however, refused to accept it, throwing it back at the DSP and ordering him to present the original before the court. He instructed the security in-charge to ensure no one left the premises until a decision was reached.
