Former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, expressed her concerns regarding the court system and government actions in a recent statement. She stated that while judges strive to deliver justice, the government often fails to adhere to court orders.

According to Khan, the entire government is facing contempt proceedings in the Supreme Court. She emphasized the importance of judicial decisions, noting that delays or unjust outcomes can have negative repercussions. Awarding unjustified punishments, she said, would be a crime.

Khan revealed that arrest warrants had been issued against her on multiple occasions, with her identity card blocked and bank accounts frozen. She demanded that the court decide her case, either punishing her or closing it, as no proceedings had taken place in over a month.

She further criticized the prosecution for delaying her case, referencing a Lahore High Court judge’s resignation due to difficulties in issuing decisions based on WhatsApp messages. Khan argued that judges who uphold the Constitution and law face threats.

In a broader critique of the government, Khan asserted that they have turned the country into a haven for plunder, fleeing abroad during challenging times.

Defence Lawyer’s Perspective:

Faisal Mahmood Malik, Aleema Khan‘s defence lawyer, addressed journalists after the hearing. He noted that a date of September 22nd was set for further proceedings. Malik stated his intention to collaborate with the prosecutor to shorten the date through consultation.

Malik denied any evidence against Khan in her case, describing it as bogus. He accused the prosecution of avoiding the case and urged the court to acquit her honorably. Furthermore, he criticized the Punjab government for distorting laws within the province.

The lawyer emphasized that Khan is being targeted solely because of her relationship with Imran Khan, stating that the case has collapsed and they seek an immediate decision.
