Kate Visits Patients at Cancer Hospital She Raised Funds For

BBC News reports that Catherine, Princess of Wales, visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London where she received cancer treatment and raised funds earlier this year.

“This was my small way of being able to give back and say thank you,” Catherine told staff during her visit on Friday. She completed the Three Peaks Challenge in June, climbing England’s, Scotland’s, and Wales’ highest peaks within 24 hours, raising funds for a new complementary healing unit at the hospital.

The princess discussed the importance of holistic care, including nature, nutrition, and emotional support, alongside medical treatments with patients and staff. She highlighted the significant impact these factors can have on cancer patients’ well-being.

"Cancer is not just the physical changes your body is going through," she reflected, emphasizing the mind-body connection during her conversation with patients suffering from various cancers.

One patient shared that therapy at the hospital had been a “lifesaver”, as it provided a safe space to discuss challenges with cancer that cannot be easily shared with friends and family. Catherine agreed, underscoring the necessity of professional support for navigating the emotional aspects of cancer.

The visit also gave patients the opportunity to share their experiences and aspirations, with one patient expressing gratitude for Catherine’s presence due to her own cancer journey: "You all become a community… I forgot that she was a princess."
