KP Cabinet Approves Revised Police Act 2026
KP Cabinet on Wednesday approved the revised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act 2026, after incorporating amendments to address reservations raised by cabinet members over various provisions of the proposed legislation.
This approval came during the 59th cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi. The revised draft was finalized following a discussion on the objections and suggestions presented by cabinet members.
Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan stated that the report of the cabinet’s sub-committee on the proposed Police Act was placed before the meeting. He added that the sub-committee had prepared its recommendations in consultation with police authorities. The cabinet considered these recommendations along with further proposals and approved the amended draft.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, and Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The approved draft will now be presented before the provincial assembly in its upcoming session for further legislative proceedings.
