KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2026) Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) launched digitalization and the Sindh Integrated Environmental Monitoring and Management Information System (SIEMMIS) on Wednesday.

Aimed at centralizing environmental governance, monitoring, and public services across the province on a modern digital platform, the initiative was introduced at a three-day technology exhibition in Karachi's Expo Center.

The system will streamline processes like:

  • Online application and renewal of environmental licenses
  • NOC processing
  • Industrial registration and compliance monitoring
  • Submission and tracking of environmental complaints
  • Inspection management

Sindh Secretary Environment, Faisal Ahmed Uqaili, emphasized the shift towards digital governance to expedite and enhance transparency in environmental approvals, NOCs, industrial registration, inspections, complaints, and record-keeping.

The system will offer:

  • GIS mapping of industrial establishments
  • Real-time environmental data monitoring
  • Instant access to digital documents and historical records, enabling data-driven decision-making.

An artificial intelligence-based multilingual chatbot, providing guidance in English and Urdu, will also be introduced for citizen convenience. Applicants can track application and complaint progress online, receiving timely updates on their status, ensuring transparency throughout the process.

The government aims to establish a robust environmental system through technology, fostering a cleaner, greener, and healthier Sindh. Digitalization of SEPA will aid government institutions in enhanced monitoring, automated workflows, centralized databases, and transparent decision-making.
