KP Govt Expands Public Transport Network

Peshawar, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) Under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the provincial government is continuously expanding the scope of public transport to provide citizens with safe, comfortable, reliable, and environment-friendly travel facilities.

This initiative reflects the government’s steadfast commitment to enhancing urban mobility and ensuring that modern transportation reaches every corner of the province, as stated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Transport and Mass transit, Samiullah Khan.

As part of this commitment, 50 new electric buses will be purchased to further expand the Peshawar BRT network. These will be deployed on five extended routes:

  • Hayatabad Mall to Jamrud
  • Pishtakhara to Bara Bazaar
  • Gul Bahar to Dabgari Garden
  • Shah Alam Bridge to Naguman
  • Kohat Adda route extension.

The expansion aims to facilitate daily commuters and reduce travel time across the city. With these new buses, the total fleet of Peshawar BRT will reach 346 buses.

Peshawar BRT remains Pakistan’s largest and most extensive metro bus service, having earned international accolades for its efficiency, safety standards, and contribution to reducing environmental pollution. The provincial government has reiterated its resolve to continue investing in sustainable and people-friendly transport infrastructure, ensuring that citizens benefit from improved connectivity and modern travel facilities.
