Unique Family With the Same Birth Date Across Generations
An American family spanning five generations shares the same birth date and has been recognized by Guinness World Records.
New York, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Sep, 2026) Have you ever seen a family in which members from several generations share the same birthday? It may be hard to believe, but such a family exists in the United States.
Guinness World Records has recognized Fred Harlow and his family from the US state of Iowa for having five generations born on the same date. The record for multiple generations of one family being born on the same date is now part of Guinness World Records.
Fred Harlow was born on September 14, 1972—the same birthday as his grandfather and mother. His grandfather, Weber, was born on September 14, 1907, while his mother, Eddie, was born on September 14, 1949.
Fred Harlow's daughter, Emma Bell, and his grandson, Arthur, were also born on September 14. Emma Bell was born in 1997, while Arthur was born in 2025.
Fred Harlow said, "It is a gift—truly a very unique gift. We always thought it was very strange, but we never imagined it was some kind of record."
Emma Bell said that after her son was born, the family decided to obtain an official Guinness World Records certificate. Previously, the record was held by four families, but Fred Harlow's family surpassed them after Arthur's birth.
Emma Bell said, "I grew up hearing my grandmother say that my son would be born on September 14, so I was determined and committed to having him born on that date."
Arthur arrived in the world at the right time, and according to Emma Bell, her grandmother would have been extremely excited if she were alive.
According to the family, another aspect makes the date even more special. "It started with Weber: first a boy, then a girl, then a boy, a girl and now a boy. The pattern is continuing in order."
