KP Plants One Million Saplings on Defence Day: Advisor on Forests
KP plants one million saplings across the province on September 6, Defence Day of Pakistan, under its ongoing plantation campaign.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Green Initiative
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Adviser for Forests and Environment, Pir Musawir Khan, announced the successful achievement of planting one million saplings in the province on Defence Day. He made this statement while participating in a plantation drive in Plandara Wirtair Dubaindi, Malakand district.
The adviser inaugurated the campaign by planting an olive sapling, highlighting the provincial government’s commitment to environmental conservation through its “Green Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” project.
Significance of Plantation:
Khan noted that 1.4 million saplings were planted on Pakistan Day in March, and another 1.7 million were planted on Independence Day in August this year. Additionally, he mentioned the rapid progress in establishing 20 Miyawaki forests in Peshawar.
Community Engagement
Addressing the local community in Dargai, Khan emphasized the importance of public participation in forest promotion, plantation, and environmental protection. He encouraged folks to contribute to making KP green and lush, emphasizing that these efforts are vital for combating pollution and climate change.
The adviser pointed out that such initiatives will safeguard future generations from natural disasters and provide them with a clean and healthy environment.
Local Impact
In Dargai Tehsil alone, 22,255 saplings were planted on September 6th, with distributions among local community members. Khan affirmed that the government’s efforts would improve the environment, mitigate climate change impacts, and ensure a prosperous future for coming generations.
He also emphasized the utilization of all available resources to make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa green and prosperous.
