KP to Observe International Literacy Day from Sept 1 to 8
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to observe International Literacy Day from September 1 to 8 across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department on Tuesday, various awareness and educational activities will be organized in public and private educational institutions. International Literacy Day will be observed comprehensively on September 8.
These activities will include:
- Seminars
- Awareness sessions
- Speech and debate competitions
- Essay-writing contests
- Poster competitions for students
Reading and other educational activities will also be arranged to highlight the importance of literacy and education.
The Education Department has directed all public and private institutions across the province to organize special activities in connection with International Literacy Day. They are required to submit daily photographs and progress reports of these activities to the relevant authorities.
According to the department, these activities aim at promoting awareness among students about:
- The importance of education
- Reading
- Literacy
