Lawmakers urge PTI to shun politics of allegations, seek political solution through dialogue

Lawmakers Urge PTI to Shun Politics of Allegations, Seek Dialogue

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th Aug, 2026) Lawmakers in the Upper House of the Parliament on Monday urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to resolve its political issues through dialogue and the parliamentary system, rather than confrontation and allegations.

Senate Discussion

Senator Abdul Qadir stated that the opposition should build consensus within its ranks and engage the government with clearly defined points to chart a way forward.

He addressed concerns raised by PTI lawmakers regarding the health of the party founder, noting that the same issue was being raised repeatedly in detail despite information about his condition being readily available. He added that according to his sources, the PTI founder exercises for around two hours daily, with his health indicators close to normal considering his age.

Senator Abdul Qadir argued that PTI, being a major political party, requires a unified approach and clarity regarding who is authorized to negotiate and make decisions on its behalf.

Senator Nasir Mahmood Butt of PML-N also participated in the debate, urging PTI to abandon what he termed as "politics based on allegations and misleading claims." He responded to Senator Dr Humayun Mohmand, stating that matters related to convictions and imprisonment must follow legal procedures and court decisions, rather than political pressure. He added that a person convicted by a competent court can seek relief through the judicial process provided under the law.

Senator Nasir Butt criticized PTI’s political conduct and rejected allegations levelled against the government.

The session was later adjourned until 11:30 am on Tuesday due to a lack of quorum.
