Legoland Windsor evacuated over burst water main

Legoland Windsor Evacuated Over Burst Water Main

BBC News reports that Legoland Windsor was abruptly closed on Sunday lunchtime due to a burst water main. Customers were ordered to leave rides and exit the resort via tannoy announcements.

Thames Water stated they had to shut off the damaged main near St Leonards Reservoir to prevent flooding, disrupting supplies to the theme park. Some local residents reported flooded gardens.

Merlin Entertainments, the operator behind Legoland, is working with local partners and apologized for the disruption. The resort is expected to reopen on Monday under normal operating hours.

One visitor described the sudden evacuation as "surreal" after waiting in line for a ride before being told to leave.

"We'd booked a night in the hotel and stayed there last night, so we're absolutely gutted because we've just had to drive home."

Thames Water is restoring supplies and providing updates on Monday.
