LAHORE (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) : The Lahore High Court has been moved against the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) practice of offloading passengers at airports and preventing them from travelling abroad.
The court has summoned the Director of the FIA Immigration Wing in person for the next hearing. Justice Munawar Iqbal Duggal heard a petition filed by Naila Kiran. Advocate Abdullah Haroon appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
Advocate Abdullah Haroon argued that the FIA had no lawful authority to offload passengers or prevent citizens from travelling abroad. He contended that the power to restrict a citizen from leaving the country rested with the federal government.
He submitted that the FIA’s practice of offloading passengers was unlawful and amounted to a violation of Article 15 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of movement.
During the hearing, the court observed that the issue raised by the petitioner was of significant public interest. The court remarked that it required assistance to determine a permanent solution to the matter.
The court directed the Director of the FIA Immigration Wing to appear in person at the next hearing and assist the court on the legal authority governing the offloading of passengers at airports.
