City Traffic Police suspended the driving licences of 146 drivers involved in fatal accidents during the last 24 hours as part of measures to curb road crashes and promote road safety.
According to police:
- The licence of a driver involved in a fatal or serious non-fatal accident will be suspended.
- Driving with a suspended licence will lead to registration of a case against the violator.
- Licences of drivers found responsible for negligent driving will remain suspended for at least one year.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that drivers responsible for fatal accidents would also face legal proceedings in addition to suspension of their driving licences, subject to court orders.
He emphasised:
- Irresponsible driving will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
- Protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority of Lahore Traffic Police.
Shirazi announced a zero-tolerance policy against violations of traffic laws, with strict legal measures continuing to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel. He also stressed the importance of compliance with traffic laws in reducing road crashes and ensuring safer roads in Lahore.
