Long March Despite Disqualifications: Junaid Akbar’s View
It is a misconception that the September 27 long march cannot take place; if workers emerge without leadership, controlling them will be difficult, according to Junaid Akbar Khan.
PTI Leader’s Statement
Speaking on a private tv program, Junaid Akbar asserted that:
"The long march will occur. Whether Sohail Afridi or Junaid Akbar are disqualified, it is a misunderstanding that their disqualifications will stop the September 27 long march. Every PTI worker possesses the capacity to lead this protest."
He further emphasized their goal of preventing clashes between institutions and the public, adding that without leadership, controlling the workers could become challenging.
Contrasting View from Sher Afzal Marwat
Meanwhile, National Assembly member Sher Afzal Marwat expressed skepticism about the long march, suggesting that PTI leaders were seeking face-saving. He claimed negotiations were underway, and relief for Bushra Bibi might be achievable if the protest was called off.
Marwat highlighted his constitutional and legal grounds for removing Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister, stating he had initiated a petition six months after Afridi’s appointment.
Questions Arise
He posed questions regarding the implementation of Imran Khan’s order to shut down Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the abrupt end to the sit-in in Attock:
"Let them hold this long march and bring 2 million people; then I will acknowledge he is a genuine soldier of Imran Khan."
