Lucy Davis ‘grateful’ for support over cancer diagnosis

Lucy Davis ‘Grateful’ for Support After Cancer Diagnosis

BBC News reports that actress Lucy Davis has expressed her gratitude for the support she’s received following her recent cancer diagnosis. She shared this sentiment during an appearance at the For The Love of Fantasy & Sci-Fi convention in London, just two weeks after announcing her incurable stage four breast cancer on Instagram.

Davis, who starred in Shaun of the Dead as Dianne, spoke about her experiences interacting with fans at the event. She described a sense of community among attendees and praised the overall positivity. "It’s like this whole second family you never knew you had," she said. "We need a bit more niceness in the world, so I’m grateful."

This was Davis’s first public appearance since her diagnosis, during which she revealed that the cancer had metastasized to her bones and chemotherapy was no longer an option. She signed autographs and posed for photos before participating in a panel discussion with Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright and co-star Simon Pegg.

The actress shared fond memories of filming, including a scene where the cast pretended to be zombies in London’s Trafalgar Square. She also offered advice to aspiring actors, encouraging them to believe in their abilities and not let self-imposed limitations hold them back.

Davis had previously thanked her fans for their support on Instagram, expressing shock at the response to her post and acknowledging the "tremendous amount of kindness and support" she received.
