Major gangland figure Steven Daniel arrested in organised crime raid

One of Scotland’s most high-profile gangland figures, Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel, aged 46, has been arrested during a police raid targeting serious and organised crime. The operation, known as Operation Venetic, involved a major UK-wide effort to dismantle several criminal gangs.
Daniel, believed to be the leader of the Daniel crime family, has been in a long-standing feud with the Lyons family for 25 years. He was taken into custody around 06:00 from his home in Robroyston, Glasgow.
A second man, Steven Gordon, aged 39, was also arrested in Garthamlock, Glasgow, in a separate but simultaneous operation. Gordon faces charges related to serious and organised crime, firearms, and drugs, as well as conspiracy to murder.
The operation has resulted in over 60 arrests since 2020, following the National Crime Agency’s penetration of a secret communications system used by criminals.
Assistant Chief Constable Dave Ferry commented on the arrests, emphasizing the commitment to pursue serious criminality:
"The chief constable has made it clear that those intent on being involved in serious and organised crime will be brought to justice."
This arrest is a significant development in the ongoing battle against organised crime in Scotland.
