Malaysian football legend Datuk Abdeh Alif has married a 20-year-old woman at the age of 72, marking a 52-year age gap between them. Speculation about his marital status arose following the spread of photos from the wedding on social media.
Later, his younger brother and former footballer, Datuk Yunus Alif, confirmed the marriage, revealing that the ceremony took place on August 27, 2026. He added that both families had approved the relationship without any obstacles.
Datuk Yunus Alif mentioned that his brother was possibly on his honeymoon with his wife and thus unavailable for comments via phone calls. A friend of Datuk Abdeh Alif also verified the authenticity of the viral wedding photos but declined to share further details, including the ceremony’s location.
Datuk Abdeh Alif played a crucial role in Malaysia’s national football team during its golden era, particularly in the late 1970s and early 1980s. His contributions helped the team qualify for the 1980 Moscow Olympics, although Malaysia eventually did not participate in the Games.
