The man who plotted to carry out arson attacks on property connected to Sir Keir Starmer has been deported, the Home Office says.

Stanislav Carpiuc, 28, was one of two men convicted over the attacks, which took place in May last year and targeted a car and two houses. He was sentenced to two years in prison in June. The Home Office confirmed he has been removed from the UK, without specifying his destination.

The BBC previously revealed the attacks were ordered on behalf of Russia, with an anonymous handler known as EL promising payment to Carpiuc's accomplice, Roman Lavrynovych.

Lavrynovych, a 22-year-old Ukrainian national, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in June.

A Home Office spokesperson stated:

"This was an abhorrent attack and the conviction and imprisonment of these men should send a clear message to anyone blinded by the promise of money from strangers. You will be caught and face severe consequences."

"This individual has now been deported from the UK."

The attacks, which occurred while Sir Keir was prime minister, began on 8 May 2025, with a car he previously owned set alight. Three days later, a fire was discovered at flats linked to Sir Keir, and the next day, another fire was reported at the entrance to his home.

Lavrynovych and Carpiuc were found guilty of conspiring together and "with others" to damage property by fire between 1 April and 13 May 2025.

A BBC investigation uncovered the arson attacks as part of a broader campaign of sabotage, provocation, and lies connected to the Russian state.

The handler EL, who directed Lavrynovych, offered Russian citizenship in exchange for further attacks and glorified President Vladimir Putin.
