Mayor Inaugurates Expansion Project Of Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Aug, 2026) The Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, inaugurated the expansion project of the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases.
Members of the City Council, the administration of the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases, doctors, paramedical staff, and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that there is a need to establish satellite dialysis centers in various densely populated areas of the city so that kidney patients can have access to treatment and dialysis facilities closer to their homes. He suggested identifying three to four congested areas for the first phase, including the possibility of setting up a center under the bridge in Banaras, Landhi, and Malir.
The Mayor stated that if space is required in KMC hospitals for establishing satellite dialysis centers, a formal proposal should be submitted, and KMC would provide all possible cooperation and space. He emphasized that distributing facilities across different areas would make healthcare more accessible to patients and alleviate travel difficulties.
He continued by saying:
- "Serving kidney patients is an important humanitarian and welfare service, and organizations and individuals working in this field will be encouraged and supported."
- "All volunteers working with the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases should be invited to KMC so that I can meet them and encourage them."
- "KMC is a partner in this welfare initiative and will continue to provide all possible support for ensuring better healthcare facilities for the people."
He concluded by expressing his commitment to collaborative efforts, stating: "We will work together so that we can better serve the people of Allah." He also tributed to the administration and organizers of the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases for their efforts in serving the public.
