Two Iranian nationals, Rahman Salehi, 35, and Salam Ahmadyan, 36, have been charged with terror offences over an alleged plot to target the Jewish community in the Manchester area ahead of Yom Kippur.
They are accused of preparing to commit an act of terrorism or assisting another to commit an act of terrorism on or before September 20th.
The pair were arrested in the Northern Quarter area of Manchester, during a time when thousands of British Jews were in synagogues.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described the news as "deeply distressing" to the Jewish community and noted that both suspects arrived in the UK by small boat several years ago.
The men are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
