Microsoft Drafts Code of Conduct To Keep Its AI Under Human Control
Microsoft on Monday released a 37-page draft "Humanist AI Code of Conduct" to ensure future artificial intelligence stays under human control and never resists being shut down.
The company stated that the "Humanist AI Code of Conduct" will consider feedback received over the next six weeks, which will be incorporated into a revised version to be published before the end of the year. This document will guide the development of Microsoft AI (MAI) models.
Key Principles:
The code aims to:
- Retain Human Control: Ensure humans maintain meaningful control over AI.
- Promote Human Progress: Use AI to advance human civilization and improve lives.
- Guide Future Development: Inform training, technical controls, operational systems, and organizational culture for MAI models.
Microsoft’s Philosophy:
"People matter more than AI. Technology’s purpose is to… accelerate human flourishing."
The company emphasizes the importance of putting humans first in the development and deployment of AI technology.
