LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin on Wednesday chaired a meeting to review preparations and arrangements for the Basant Festival in Lahore.

Director General Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Ahmad Usman Javed gave a detailed briefing on the proposed arrangements.

Bilal Yasin stated that, on the directives of Chief Minister Punjab, preparations were underway to organize Basant as a grand cultural event for the citizens of Lahore. He emphasized that flowers, kites, lights, and vibrant cultural colors would enhance the city’s beauty and create a festive atmosphere.

He directed:

  • Major roads and central locations of Lahore to be categorized and a comprehensive beautification plan to be prepared.
  • Special decorative arrangements along roads, parks, green belts, and other important public places.
  • Entry and exit points of the city to be decorated with welcome banners, colorful embellishments, and special lighting.

Special floats and cultural displays would also be arranged at various locations, highlighting Lahore’s cultural heritage.

The minister stressed on showcasing the cultural and traditional heritage of the Walled City of Lahore during the festival. He added that proposals had been sought for organizing a grand cultural event featuring Basant colors within the historic city.

Bilal Yasin concluded by stating that the festival aimed to revive Lahore’s cultural vibrancy and provide citizens with healthy and quality entertainment. He directed the PHA to ensure comprehensive decorative and beautification arrangements across the city for the celebrations.
