Mohammed Al Obeidli Elected Vice President of Asian Sailing Federation

The Asian Sailing Federation has elected Mohammed Al Obeidli as its Vice President, representing the West Asia region, by acclamation. This follows the completion of the candidacy procedures and electoral process in accordance with the Federation’s regulations and bylaws.

Al Obeidli, Secretary-General of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, will take on his new responsibilities during the General Assembly meeting of the continental federation in Nagoya, Japan, which coincides with the Asian Games scheduled from September 19 to October 4, 2026.

He will also continue serving as Chairman of the Development Committee of the Asian Sailing Federation for the 2026-2030 term.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, congratulated Al Obeidli on his election as Vice President of the Asian Sailing Federation, representing West Asia. He attributed this achievement to the confidence in Emirati sporting capabilities at regional and international levels, highlighting their active role in promoting Asian sports.

For his part, Mohammed Al Obeidli expressed his pride in the Asian Sailing Federation’s trust in him to represent West Asia. He thanked the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee for their continuous support. Describing his new position as an honor and responsibility, Al Obeidli vowed to embody the leadership role of Emirati sporting entities in development initiatives and shaping the future of Asian sports.

He added that he looks forward to collaborating with sailing federations across Asia to strengthen cooperation, further develop the sport, nurture emerging talents, and enhance participation, thereby boosting Asian sailing’s global presence.
