Mohsin Naqvi Orders Crackdown on Human Trafficking, Hawala-Hundi Mafia
Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to bring to justice all networks involved in human trafficking and hawala-hundi mafia operations, with a strong emphasis on achieving visible results. This directive was issued during a special meeting chaired by Naqvi at the FIA Zonal Office in Lahore, where he reviewed the office’s performance and upgradation project progress.
Naqvi stressed the completion of the FIA Zonal Office Lahore upgradation project as a priority, assuring that all necessary resources would be provided to enhance the working capacity of FIA officers. He stated, "Crackdown against criminal gangs is your responsibility, and results should be tangible."
The meeting approved the replacement of old cameras at airport immigration counters with modern technology-equipped devices to strengthen monitoring and security. It also decided to utilize the PakID app for complaint registration, aiming to streamline the process and improve the handling of complaints.
Director FIA Lahore, Muhammad Ali Zia, presented a briefing on the upgradation project’s progress, highlighting key achievements:
- 1,670 First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in the past year
- Disposition of 4,000 out of 5,000 inquiries
- Arrest of 295 proclaimed offenders during the same period
Attending the meeting were FIA Director General Dr. Usman Anwar, Director Cap (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia, and all circle in-charges.
