LAHORE (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News) – Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, on Wednesday visited Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and reviewed the newly expanded immigration area. The area has been operationalized for passengers after its completion in just 15 days, aimed at facilitating travelers and reducing waiting time during increased passenger rush.

During his visit, the minister observed arrangements for passengers, interacted with them, and inquired about their experiences and the provided facilities. He noted that the number of immigration lines has increased from seven to 20, significantly enhancing passenger flow and easing congestion.

Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that this achievement was a result of dedicated efforts by Federal Secretary Defence, Civil Aviation authorities, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other relevant institutions. He appreciated their coordinated work in making the additional area operational so swiftly.

The minister stated:

“During the rush season, our priority was to provide immediate relief to passengers instead of waiting for the completion of permanent construction work.”

Additional immigration counters were temporarily installed by the FIA to make the expanded area functional immediately. Naqvi assured that new permanent counters would be installed soon, with remaining construction work concluded at the earliest.

He also observed the immigration process and document checking, appreciating an FIA official for diligently performing his duty by stopping a passenger with incomplete travel documents. He directed FIA officials to rigorously scrutinize travel documents and ensure no passenger with inadequate documentation is permitted to travel.

Naqvi emphasized that passenger facilitation should be paramount during peak travel periods, while immigration officers must strictly adhere to rules and verify travel documents meticulously.
