Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has responded to Mustafa Kamal's challenges, stating his willingness to attend any debate Kamal proposes, provided he presents the requested documents.
Wahab addressed journalists in Karachi, noting Kamal's recent invitations and his own continued engagement in the field. He highlighted Kamal's frequent press conferences in air-conditioned rooms and weekly visits to Karachi.
The mayor challenged Kamal, saying if his opponents fail to oppose him, they are no longer considered so. He specifically mentioned Kamal's claim regarding Rs300 billion, challenging him to prove the budget documents if the funds were indeed utilized.
Wahab emphasized the importance of transparency, stating that documents cannot be hidden, and the truth regarding their utilization will be revealed. He also brought up Kamal's past accusation that Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was a RAW agent, and noted Kamal's subsequent join of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) under Siddiqui's leadership before the 2024 elections.
Furthermore, Wahab discussed Kamal's shifting political views, citing his statements regarding the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's (KMC) powers and his claims about the province's Chief Minister. He emphasized that despite these changes, the KMC's work is now more visible.
The mayor announced plans to offer free IT courses to young people, aiming to equip them with skills to serve both their parents and the city. He highlighted the recent development of a 4,400 square meter park with facilities and a play area for children.
Wahab concluded by assuring the public that the KMC is committed to completing projects that will improve the lives of everyday citizens. He mentioned that tendering for roads in 139 other towns will commence after September 15, with the goal of providing public convenience through these improvements.
