NA Offers Fateha For Deceased Lawmakers, Security Personnel, Civilians
UrduPoint (August 17, 2026) – The National Assembly on Monday offered Fateha (a Muslim prayer for the dead) for lawmakers, relatives of parliamentarians, security personnel, and civilians who recently passed away in various incidents.
Recent Deaths
- Former MNAs: Muhammad Iqbal Channar (father of Malik Zaheer Iqbal, Deputy Speaker, Punjab Assembly), Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Awan, Fouzia Habib, and Begum Nafisa Khalid.
- Relatives of Political Figures: Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s mother, Syed Waseem Hussain’s mother, and Tahira Aurangzeb’s brother-in-law.
- Security Personnel: Young son of Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai, Speaker Balochistan Assembly (aged around 21 or 22).
- Victims of Tragic Incidents: 15 people drowned in a canal in Kot Addu and 35 workers died in a gas explosion at a coal mine in Balochistan.

The House also offered Fateha for security personnel who lost their lives while battling terrorists, specifically mentioning Major Hafiz Ihsan Elahi and Captain Hamza Akram.
